Syöte rebranding

Rebranding the southernmost fell of Finland.

01 Project overview

Category/Industry: Destination marketing

Services: Marketing communications, art direction, graphic design

Year: 2021

01 Challenge

Syöte is a unique destination that faces a common challenge: how to stand out among a sea of interesting regions. We took on the task of rebranding Syöte and looked for ways to distinguish the region from Lapland while still leveraging the features that attract people to the North.

02 Strategy

We wanted to create a brand that conveys and utilizes Syöte’s location south of Lapland. It was also imperative that we consider domestic audiences in the Oulu region and Southern Finland as well as international travelers.

03 Creative Solution

We set a goal of positioning Syöte north of haste, a place beyond everyday worries. We did not rely on Lapland, as Syöte is distinctive and special on its own. The international messaging focuses on the region’s unique nature.

04 Implementation

We canvassed the regional stakeholders to truly understand the region and its assets. We then created a brand strategy that defines the essence, story, core messages and distinctive features of Syöte.

The region and its nature inspired us to craft a visual identity that reflects the brand in a way that stands out and stands the test of time. The palette, typography, and logos create a cohesive, intuitive look and feel that represent the region to a tee.

05 Impact

The brand helped distinguish the region further apart from their competition. Syöte continues to thrive as the southernmost fell in Finland and a top travel destination in any season.
